POST-PROCESSING

Upgrade your PEEK parts with annealing

For a small additional charge (£55 per unit), your components can be annealed to significantly boost mechanical integrity. This typically adds one extra day to the manufacturing time. 

The process involves meticulously heating and cooling your print to de-stress the plastic and improve its structural stability. It also removes imperfections, leaving a lighter, cleaner finish.

PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) is a semicrystalline thermoplastic polymer known for its exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance properties. It exhibits excellent strength and stiffness, even at high temperatures, making it suitable for demanding applications in industries such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, and medical devices. PEEK is often chosen for its ability to withstand harsh environments, including exposure to chemicals, radiation, and high pressure. Its versatility, biocompatibility, and ease of processing through methods like additive manufacturing make it a preferred material for a wide range of engineering applications where reliability and durability are paramount.

PEEK CF is infused with Carbon Fibre to offer a different set of mechanical properties. 

PEEK CF is stronger, able to perform at higher temperatures, and boasts greater electrical and thermal conductivity. 

Standard PEEK is suited to applications requiring high insulation, deformation before rupture, and magnets.

On the other hand, PEEK CF is favoured for high-temperature applications, high-load-bearing parts, and functional items that need lower friction. 

Annealing is an optional extra and completely up to you. Annealed PEEK offers the greatest possible mechanical properties of any of our materials (even more so than PEEK CF when it comes to tensile strength and dimensional stability). If appearance is important to you, annealing will also remove most roughness and irregularities, leaving a cleaner surface finish.  

Yes, PEEK filament boasts high chemical resistance to a broad array of chemicals, even at high temperatures. 

This makes it perfect for energy, oil, and gas applications, especially when combined with the added heat resistance provided by PEEK CF.

Though PEEK filament itself can be considered food-safe, the FDM printing process is not. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that any items we produce in PEEK will be fit for use in applications where food safety is a necessity.  

Our PEEK 3D printers have a maximum volume of 260 x 260 x 260 mm.

With that said, larger models can be printed in sections for you to join together.
